Latvian Association of Ski and Snowboard Instructors (LASSI) organises LEVEL 1 TRAINING FOR SKI INSTRUCTORS
 
Location:   Žagarkalns, Cēsis
Duration of training:  10 days (80 hours)
Time:  beginning of February 2011

Level 1 training for skiing instructors and final exams carried out in compliance with standards of the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA) with the best instructors of Latvia, under the guidance of the experienced Finnish instructor – mentor Seppo Keranen.

In order to train to become a ski instructor, the only conditions are to have very good skiing skills and fine communication abilities. Admission to the training after passing a skiing test.
According to the European training system, instructor training is organised in 3 levels. Each level consists of 80-hour training programme and an exam.

1st training level deals with teaching methodology and strategies for working with beginners and children; individual skiing skills of the instructor are improved. At the end of the course, an exam (in Latvian or in a foreign language) must be passed, consisting of 3 parts: skiing, teaching skiing, theory.

2nd training level covers learning and improving teaching methodology and strategies for working with all level skiers, including advanced level skiers; individual skiing skills of the instructor are improved. At the end of the course, an exam (in a foreign language) must be passed, consisting of 3 parts: skiing, teaching skiing, theory.

3rd training level is aimed to improve the teaching methodology for working with all level skiers, including advanced level skiers and athletes; learning powder skiing, ice skiing, mogul skiing, off-piste, “new school”; individual skiing skills of the instructor are improved. At the end of the course, an exam (in a foreign language) must be passed, consisting of 3 parts: skiing, teaching skiing, theory.

LASSI organises 1st level instructor training each winter season right here in Latvia.
2nd and 3rd level instructor courses are organised in Finland or Austria.
